EXPLORE SUMATRA | SUPPORT CONSERVATION
We believe in a sustainable travel experience that offers insights into local culture, wildlife, and fauna, as well as directly supporting local communities, education, conservation, and restoration programs.
Our customized trekking holidays are tailored to its participants, and support the work of Ibu Bumi Orangutan, a non-profit organization focused on land conservation through outreach, restoration, and research in the North Sumatra region of Indonesia.
GUNUNG LEUSER NATIONAL PARK
We offer customized trekking holidays and experiences in North Sumatra in support of our NGO. We have designed different itineraries ranging from 1-day hikes to 7-days or more in Gunung Leuser National Park.
We will guide you through the most inhospitable jungles, show you Orangutans in the wild, follow the tracks of the Sumatra Tiger, and introduce you to all the magic places this region has to offer.
Ibu Bumi Orangutan
North Sumatra opened its first Orangutan orphanage in the 1970s when the Indonesian government promoted the conservation of natural environments by reintroducing Orangutans. The DNA of these beautiful primates is 97% identical to that of the human, making them incredibly intelligent. They have a track record of easily adapting to their environment.
All funds gained from our guided trekking holidays and programs aid us in continuing our work within the Gunung Leuser National Park, a World Heritage site, where we are actively working to:
Build conservation programs for the Sumatran Tiger
Develop sustainable activities to support the livelihood of local farmers
Study ways of stopping human-wildlife conflict
Design environmental and basic education programs for children
Develop agroforestry management systems
When booking through us, 10% of every activity goes directly to our NGO programs.
